Bespoke Wedding Dresses in JerusalemMade to Order, from First Sketch to Final Fitting

At the AMALYA studio in Jerusalem nothing is taken off a rack: there is a sketch, a personal pattern, and a series of fittings until the gown sits exactly. Every gown is made for one bride, to her measurements.

The studio has worked this way since 2007: hand-sewing and hand-beading, laces commissioned from European lace mills, and base fabrics from houses in France and Italy the studio has worked with for years.

What Made to Order Really Promises

Made to measure, custom fitting, and made to order sound like one word, and the promises differ. In a full bespoke order the pattern is drafted for the bride’s body, and the design is decided with her: the cut, the neckline, the sleeve, the beadwork.

You do not have to start from a blank page. You can choose a collection piece and adapt it, add a sleeve, raise a neckline, or change the beadwork, or design an entirely new gown.

Seven Stages, One Studio

From sketch to delivery a gown passes through seven stages: hand drawing, choosing materials, a toile built to the bride’s measurements, hand cutting, beading, assembly, and fittings. Everything happens in the same Jerusalem studio: the same hands, the same materials, the same responsibility.

A densely beaded bodice can take two to four hundred hours of handwork: every Swarovski stone, glass bead, and pearl is set one by one.

Timeline and Fittings

Most brides in Israel close their order about three months before the wedding; for brides abroad we recommend at least four. Every gown goes through three to four fittings before the wedding date.

Fittings take place at the studio, one on one, by appointment. For brides abroad the process can begin with a virtual appointment.

The first step is an hour at the studio.

A first appointment at the Jerusalem studio is personal and private. The first appointment is free of charge.
