There is a difference a kallah feels at once: between a gown designed tznius from the first sketch and a gown sewn revealing and covered after the fact. The AMALYA studio works the first way only.
The studio was established in 2007 and specialises in gowns for brides who keep modesty. Every gown is hand-sewn and hand-beaded for one bride, to her measurements.
A Clear Line, with Room to Be Stricter
The studio line is drawn deliberately as a strict common ground, and holds in every gown:
- •A sleeve that ends at the wrist.
- •A neckline that closes at the collarbone.
- •A fabric that is opaque everywhere, including under flash.
Your Line Decides
Tzniut is a practice, not a single measurement: one kallah follows her community’s line, another the house she grew up in. We do not decide this for any bride, and we never argue with it.
If your line differs or is stricter in some detail, a higher neckline, a closer sleeve, a heavier fabric, say so at the first appointment, and it enters the design from the first sketch rather than as a correction.
Opacity You Can See in the Light
A modest gown carries far more lace, so opacity is part of the design rather than a check at the end. Lace sleeves are lined with an extra layer of matte silk or cotton batiste, so the pattern stays visible and the skin does not show.
Every gown is checked under studio lighting, flash, and daylight before it leaves the studio; if the lining shows through in any of them, it is adjusted until it does not.
Private Appointments, in Quiet
There is no sales floor and no rack of dozens of dresses: one appointment at a time, arranged in advance, one on one. Most brides come with their mother or one close companion.
Bring the wedding date, and bring your own definition of coverage in plain words: what is required, what is acceptable, what is out of the question.
Timeline
Most brides in Israel close their order about three months before the wedding; for brides abroad we recommend at least four. Every gown goes through three to four fittings before the wedding date.
